German Pancake

I love pancakes, waffles, crêpes for breakfast. I happen to like peaches as a topping however any type of fruit or vegetable would be great, yes vegetable and maybe some gravy. Here is a recipe that is one of my favorite.

German Pan Cake

The German Pancake, there is a restaurant here Toledo that is the only place I know in Ohio that the German Pancake is served every day. This recipe is easy to make and taste totally wonderful, try only powder sugar and lemon.

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ¾ Cup all purpose flour
  • ¾ Cup of Milk
  • 3 Large Eggs
  • ¼ cup of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla

Place 1 ½ tablespoon of butter in a ovenproof pan, I use a skillet or any large frying pan. Just remember this is going to be hot. Don’t put pan with rubber or really anything that would melt in the oven. Set the pan in oven at 425 degrees until butter melts. Swirl to coat pan Blend flour, milk, egg and sugar until blended.

Pour batter into pan. Bake until deep golden brown. (18-25 minutes) by the way this can make two if you use a smaller frying pan.

Top with and topping you like and enjoy, you will be the talk of your breakfast or brunch guest.
